Having completed your pre course tasks, we shall gather together at noon on the 18th March 2027, to spend the week on an immersive learning journey to professional funeral celebrancy.
A comprehensive week-long training for those wishing to become a Spiritual and Civil Funeral and Memorial Celebrant, learning how to create and conduct deeply meaningful, personal ceremonies that honour each individual and their loved ones.
By the end of the seven days…
You will have gained the knowledge and practical skills to plan, write and conduct personalised Spiritual and Civil Funeral and Memorial Ceremonies, from the initial family consultation through to the final farewell.
You will be able to hold a full funeral ceremony, according to the beliefs and wishes of your clients - be it a formal crematorium funeral, a natural woodland burial, a full pagan farewell or anything in between.
People's requirements for their loved one’s final farewell are evolving. Generic, formulaic, ‘off the shelf’ structure no longer works for many. Families are looking for authenticity, a true reflection of the life their loved one lived, and for their story to be told.
We teach you how to celebrate and honour the whole person, their belief system and their community.
This training combines ceremony, storytelling, ritual, professional practice and business guidance - providing a firm foundation for beginning your journey as a Spiritual and Civil Funeral and Memorial Celebrant.

Foundations of Spiritual Funeral Ceremonies
Explore the role of the celebrant, funerals as rites of passage, ceremonial space, the Four Elements and creating ceremonies that reflect individual beliefs and wishes.
Death, Grief and Bereavement
Develop an understanding of grief and bereavement, compassionate communication, active listening, supporting families, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and self care.
Meeting the Family and Planning the Ceremony
Learn how to work with families and funeral directors, conduct consultations, gather memories and stories, understand family wishes and begin planning a personalised ceremony.
Writing the Funeral Ceremony
Learn the structure and flow of a funeral, including openings, tributes, music, readings, poetry, prayers, storytelling, the formal farewell and closing words. Learn the tips and tricks for creating presentation and delivery scripts.
Spiritual and Symbolic Ceremony
Explore symbolic actions and rituals, including candles, flowers, earth, water, sand, personal objects, music and other elements that can personalise and enhance a funeral or memorial ceremony.
Burials, Cremations and Ceremony Delivery
Explore different funeral settings and learn the practical skills required to conduct a ceremony, including working with funeral directors, ceremony preparation, guest participation, timing, health and safety, voice and presentation.
Practical Ceremony and the Business of Becoming a Celebrant
We bring everything together. You will practise delivering a funeral ceremony, learn how to manage emotional situations and develop confidence, professionalism and presence as a celebrant. We show you how to introduce yourself to the celebrancy world, stay relevant and in demand.
A £250 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking.
Options on the website are to pay your deposit only.
You may then pay by pre-arranged instalments via bank transfer or by card.
Full payment must be received three weeks prior to the course start date.
This is a self-catering residential course held at Halsbeer Farm, Blackborough, Devon, just ten minutes from the M5 and Cullompton.
Three beautiful self-contained cottages with fully fitted kitchens, including dishwashers.

All breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided by yourself, as it is a self-catering residential course.
